The Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation (CIRI) began its operation in 2014, signaling the pursuit of AUTH to redefine the role of research for the development of the country and to form new more effective interdisciplinary cooperation structures. From 2015 until today, and after three calls for proposals, 22 research groups have joined it.

The main mission of CIRI is the promotion and development of interdisciplinarity in an open and collaborative environment of excellence, which utilizes the research infrastructures of AUTH at the local, national and European level, expands the University’s synergy with Society and contributes to economic and social development of the country.

In the context of this mission, the following objectives have been set:

Enhancing excellence

Attracting young scientists

Knowledge transfer and technology transfer

Strengthening the national economy

Formation of interdisciplinary culture

More effective coordination of large research infrastructures

Strengthening research activity and innovation for the benefit of the Foundation

Creation of a strong research pole in the national, European and international space

In this way, Aristotle University, as the main research partner in the area of Northern Greece, will continue to pioneer the production of new knowledge with innovative actions in a wide range of thematic fields, responding to the challenges of the new European Union funding period and supporting, at the same time , the development course of the Region of Central Macedonia.
